 Oversee and lead the daily operations of state of the art, computer-controlled high temperature vacuum furances used to perform Sintering and Heat Treating of Orthopedic Implants.
 
 

Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the Furnace Area, including, but not limited to leading a group of 2 to 4 employees, over multiple shifts.
Receive from production schedule and carry out the daily and weekly schedules for the Furnace Area.
Oversee the vacuum furnace operators, instruct their daily activities and monitor their performance.
Oversee all probe checks, gage calibration and uniformity surveys as required by instructions or customer.
Ensure that all visual inspections and necessary maintenance of all furnaces are completed per the proper specifications.
Provide and document all training for both current and new employees.
Implement and oversee departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.
Load and unload curing ovens and vacuum furnaces as required.
Ensure that all Lean Manufacturing techniques and procedures are being followed at all times.
Monitor supplies and reorder per the Kanban system when needed.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the furnace area.
Ensure proper safety equipment is used by all personnel in the furnace area.
Support production as required.

 

Qualifications
Ability to work with piers in a team environment.
Intermediate understanding of computer operations, including but not limited to Microsoft Office. Proficient in spreadsheets and word processing.
Ability to work with little direct supervision.
Learning Strategies- Proficient learning and teaching strategies. Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning and teaching.



 

Language Skills
Reading Comprehension- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Written Communication- Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. (Procedures, Reports, Spreadsheets, etc.)
Oral Communication- Ability to effectively present data, critical facts, etc. in oral form so others will understand. Including, but not limited to reporting to facility management team.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

 High school diploma or equivalent required 2 or 4 year college degree desired 2 or more years supervisory and/or leadership experience required. Mechanical aptitude required. Certificate program or documented training desired. Prior experience with high temperature vacuum furnaces desired, but not required. Lean manufacturing experience desired. Required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Occasionally required to sit and walk. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
